Bucks Museum (previously known as Bucks County Museum), in the historic heart of Aylesbury, tells the story of the people and landscapes of Buckinghamshire, from prehistoric times through to the present day. It showcases the best of Bucks heritage: archaeology, social history, natural history, geology, art, costumes and photographs. We also house the famous Lenborough Hoard, one of the largest hoards of Anglo-Saxon silver coins ever found.
The Museum dates back to the late 1400s in parts and in 2012 renovation work in the Museum garden revealed 5 burials dating from the 7th century.
The Museum buildings today were previously a medieval guildhall and later courthouse, grand private house, coach house and later a School .
